100901 A DREAM COME TRUE

For most, it takes a long time for dreams to become a reality. Yet, in all reality, most young people’s parents don’t have the resources the help their children’s dreams materialize, but dreams don’t die, they just sometimes come later in life.

That wasn’t necessarily the case for Snir.

Ever since Snir’s uncle bought a Fiat some years back and flashed it around his family, his nephew Snir dreamed of possessing a little ‘sporty car’ of his own. On his 18th birthday, his desire was sitting in front of him, the gift of his father who had searched for his son’s dream car.
Now, what Snir once drooled over has become the envy of his friends and at the same time an enjoyment for them also. Snir was too shy to tell how many new girlfriends he has acquired since he has been sporting about in his convertible, but just snickered when asked. Yet in order to remind everyone, he was quick to make the grand-slam pronouncement:
“Israel is a Jewish State forever!”
Snir’s family lives in a small settlement outside of Jerusalem. His family was one of the original who built the home of their dreams in Givon Hahadasha. They moved into their new home when Snir was 5 years old, so this is the only place called home that he, like so many children growing up in Binyamin and the Shomron, has never known.
Snir will be going into the IDF in November. He hopes to go into the Golani Brigade like so many others who want to stand as a shomer and protector on the hills surrounding Israel. My personal wish for him is that this will be another dream come true for one of Israel’s finest sons.

As Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year, approaches, may you all be endowed with the gifts and riches of our heavenly Abba just as Snir was blessed with a dream come true from the love of his earthly father.
